Davide Mancini Zanchi

Pictorial conceptualism as a visual short circuit is the hallmark of Davide Mancini Zanchi (Urbino, 1986). His practice navigates a fine line where painting becomes an active device, a physical action, and a field of cultural inquiry. Through an analytical and ironic use of the medium, the artist subverts traditional genres—from landscape to still life—reflecting social constructs, false myths, and ideologies.

The reinterpretation and simulation of familiar images extends to object-based trompe-l’oeil, whether the artist replicates everyday objects such as school blackboards marked by repetitive symbols or evokes night skies with monochromatic canvases studded with small paper fragments. This is how aesthetic and perceptual frictions are triggered, where the ordinary becomes an irreverent and cultured mirror of the present. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino, Mancini Zanchi has held various exhibitions. In 2020, he won the Italian Council award, which included a residency in Uruguay.
