Simone Stuto

Dynamic, vibrantly colorful, at times a dream and at times a nightmare, the paintings of Simone Stuto (Caltanissetta, 1991) give shape to surreal compositions that draw on two inexhaustibly fertile sources: the legacy of the great masters, from the earliest times to the modern era, and the realm of the unconscious. Human beings, animals, and hybrid figures emerge from spaces saturated with details and chromatic clashes.

The reference to medieval and Renaissance art—particularly evident in his drawings and sculptures, where it guides the definition of anatomies and allegorical allusions—is subjected to an all-encompassing transfiguration that devours and reconfigures every fragment. The vibrant palette alternates between transparent glazes and denser textures, amplifying the tension between form, disintegration, grace, and deformity. Yet everything is part of a single vision—a threshold between the cultivated and the instinctive, between order and metamorphosis.

A graduate in Painting and Graphic Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, Stuto lives and works in Turin.
