Nina Ćeranić

Among her favorite books, *The Master and Margarita*, the novel by Mikhail Bulgakov, holds a special place in the heart of Nina Ćeranić (Belgrade, 1992), a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where she has lived and worked since 2011.

Among her sources of inspiration, she cites mass media and cinema, which fascinate her for their narrative techniques—techniques she studies and incorporates into her paintings. But it is the tangle of lived experiences and consumed images that has profoundly shaped her artistic vision: “Having left my country as a child, speaking two languages, and embodying two cultures allows me to see things in perspective, but at the same time, it is the root of a latent sense of disorientation that leads me to question things. This is precisely where my obsession with family photos stems from.”

Ćeranić focuses on marginal elements such as *Divano*, a 2022 work, and, more recently, fingers: “These are other images taken from everyday life—a part of the body that we can observe. They are very personal, all different, and allow me to explore their infinite nuances.”
