Mysterious scenarios, clear or hazy landscapes, mutating subjects in sombre or bright tones, artefacts, reptiles, amphibians, everyday objects that acquire symbolic power are the protagonists of Chiara Peruch's painting. Poised between figurative representation and material abstraction, the artist creates imaginative visions, alienating narratives, dreamlike yet inhospitable views. For the exhibition, Peruch presents the painting entitled Sentiero cieco (la sabbia delle possibilità) (Blind Path (the sand of possibilities)), where a boat appears in the darkness of a cave, half-buried and stranded on a sandy seabed, from which debris emerges, furnishings from unspecified eras, everyday objects turned into fossils. Time is suspended, crystallised in an undefined dimension, while the gaze is drawn by grazing lights and flashes that reveal the remains of a trammel net and a pair of small lizards nesting among the rocky outcrops. 'The image signals the entrance to a changing zone,“ explains Peruch, 'of transformation, transition or rebirth, into a different world, where any threat may lurk”. In this hidden and desolate landscape, heterogeneous elements and objects coexist, giving rise to a sort of visionary archaeology, as a place of possibility and regeneration.
